PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Philadelphia wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who leads the Eagles in receptions and receiving yards, will miss the rest of the season because of rib injuries.

Jackson will be placed on injured reserve, Eagles Coach Andy Reid said Tuesday. Jackson was injured in the first quarter of Monday night's game with Carolina. The Eagles lost 30-22 and are tied -- with Carolina -- for the worst record in the NFC at 3-8.

The injured reserve designation means Jackson will be out for the rest of the season.

"He fractured a couple ribs up high in his chest," Reid said. "He's got multiple fractures."

Jackson leads Philadelphia with 45 catches for 700 yards and two touchdowns this season. In five NFL seasons -- all with Philadelphia -- he has caught 275 passes for 4,796 yards and 23 touchdowns.

In addition to losing their leading receiver, the Eagles have been playing without starting quarterback Michael Vick, who has missed the last two games with a concussion.
