John Daly challenges with a 63

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Jonas Blixt and Brendon de Jonge shared the lead Friday and John Daly made a move to regain a spot on the PGA Tour at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Blixt and de Jonge finished 36 holes over the TPC-Summerlin course in 14-under 128 -- Blixt firing a 64 and de Jonge a 66.

First-round leader Ryan Moore settled for a 68 that left him alone in third at 129 while Tim Herron and Daniel Summerhays were tied for fourth at 131.

Daly equaled Summerhays for the low round of the day with an 8-under 63 that put him into a tie for sixth at 132 with Vijay Singh, Nick Watney, Chris Kirk and John Huh.

Daly began the tournament having won $479,595 this year, the most he has earned on the tour since 2005, which put him in 132nd place on the money list. He must finish among the top 125 on that list to regain an exempt position on the tour, something he has not had in five years.

The two-time major championship winner, beset by personal problems throughout his career, would jump to 120th place if he could maintain his current position in this tournament.

He also has three more events in which to make enough money to earn his exemption.
