Sock upends Bogomolov in Atlanta

ATLANTA, July 17 (UPI) -- American wild card Jack Sock upended seventh-seeded Alex Bogomolov Jr. Monday in first-round action at the BB&T Atlanta Open.

Sock downed the Russian 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, making good on two of his three break points in the final set as the 19-year-old collected his third career ATP Tour victory.

Bogomolov dropped his fifth straight match.

Other opening-day winners at Atlanta included fifth-seeded South African Kevin Anderson, Luxembourg's Gilles Muller and American wild card Steve Johnson.
