MLB: Tampa Bay 3, Miami 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 17 (UPI) -- Alex Cobb dominated Miami on two hits over seven shutout innings Sunday, helping the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-0 interleague win over the Marlins.

Cobb (3-3) didn't allow a runner past first base in the pitching gem, during which he threw 69 of his 100 pitches for strikes.

The second-year right-hander struck out 10 and yielded only one walk for the Rays, who claimed the rubber match of a three-game interleague Florida rivalry series at Tropicana Field.

Joel Peralta tossed a scoreless eighth inning and Fernando Rodney racked up his 19th save as third-place Tampa Bay remained 3 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East.

B.J. Upton socked a solo homer while Ben Zobrist and Drew Sutton each added two hits and an RBI for the victors.

Marlins starter Josh Johnson (4-5) yielded a pair of runs on eight hits in a six-inning effort.
