ANAHEIM, Calif., April 18 (UPI) -- Yoenis Cespedes drove in two runs in a four-run eighth Tuesday to help the Oakland A's beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-3.
Coco Crisp and Josh Reddick drove in the other eighth-inning runs, and Brian Fuentes (1-0) picked up the win in relief of Tyson Ross. Gary Balfour gave up a home run to Vernon Wells in the ninth but held on for the save.
Kevin Jepsen (0-1) took the loss in relief of Dan Haren, who allowed one run on five hits through 6 2/3 innings for the Angels.
Wells ended up with two hits and scored twice. Torii Hunter went 2-for-4 and Albert Pujols contributed a fourth-inning single for the Angels, who have lost five of their last seven.
The A's snapped a three-game losing streak.
