NBA: New Orleans 96, Utah 85

NEW ORLEANS, April 13 (UPI) -- Eric Gordon scored eight points during a game-ending, 15-3 run Friday that gave New Orleans a 96-85 win over Utah.

The Hornets won on the day the franchise was sold to New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson and the outcome slowed down Utah's bid for a playoff berth.

Utah began the night in ninth place in the Western Conference, 1 1/2 games behind Denver and Houston.

The Jazz had a one-point lead with 5:38 to play before collapsing down the stretch. Gordon led New Orleans with 25 points and Chris Kaman had 19.

New Orleans has won four out of six in an attempt to climb out of last place in the West.

Utah was led by Paul Millsap with 27 points and eight rebounds.
