SYDNEY, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Caroline Wozniacki and Petra Kvitova, with the world No. 1 ranking at stake, both won three-set matches Tuesday at the Apia International tournament in Sydney.
Wozniacki, the current world No. 1, edged past Dominika Cibulkova 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 by winning the final six games of the second-round match. Wozniacki dropped serve six times and needed three breaks in the final set to survive.
