SUNRISE, Fla., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- A power-play goal from Steven Stamkos 2:29 into overtime Friday boosted the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 2-1 win over Florida.
The Lightning snapped a two-game skid and handed the Panthers their first loss in four outings.
Stamkos one-timed a shot from the left circle over the glove of Jose Theodore for his 12th goal of the season. It came with Dmitry Kulikov in the penalty box for interference.
Stamkos scored 45 goals last season and led the NHL the season before that with 51.
Tomas Fleischmann scored Florida's only goal with 7:22 to go in the second period. Vincent Lecavalier tied it midway through the third by tipping in a shot from Martin St. Louis, who also assisted on the overtime goal.
Mathieu Garon made 23 saves to get the win. Theodore stopped 29 shots.
