BOSTON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Todd Bertuzzi scored in the final round of the shootout Friday to hand the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 win over Boston, whose winning streak was snapped at 10.
Jimmy Howard stopped 41 shots for Detroit, 17 in the third period, to deal the Bruins their first loss since Oct. 29.
Bertuzzi, coming in wide from the right wing, faked a backhand shot as he skated through the slot but then sent a forehand wrister off of Boston goalie Tuukka Rask into the net.
Pavel Datsyuk and Valtteri Filppula scored in regulation for the Red Wings, who won their fourth straight game and their eighth out of 10.
Valtteri Filppula's fifth goal of the season gave Detroit the lead at 12:43 of the first. The Bruins tied it at 1-1 with Daniel Paille's goal at 4:05 of the second but Pavel Datsyuk put the Red Wings ahead 2-1 35 seconds later with his sixth goal of the season.
Patrice Bergeron tied it with a goal at 7:52 of the third.
