SUNRISE, Fla., Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Kris Versteeg ignited a Florida rally with two second-period goals Monday and the Panthers overcame a 3-0 deficit to post a 4-3 victory over New Jersey.
The Devils seemed to have the game well in hand after Ilya Kovalchuk, Petr Sykora and Dainius Zubrus notched first-period goals. But Versteeg cut New Jersey's lead to 3-2 with his tallies in the middle frame -- his 10th and 11th goals of the season.
Stephen Weiss got the equalizer on a shorthanded tally midway through the third and Tomas Fleischmann netted the game-winner with 2 minutes remaining, collecting the puck while alone in front of the net and flicking a wrist shot past Martin Brodeur.
Jose Theodore turned aside 22-of-25 shots for the first-place Panthers, who maintained their two-point lead over second-place Washington in the Southeast Division.
Brodeur ended with 32 stops for the Devils.
