Cibulkova, Kanepi win Kremlin Cup semis

MOSCOW, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia earned a berth in the finals of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow Saturday with a straight-set victory over Russian Elena Vesnina.

It is the second consecutive week that Cibulkova, the No. 8 seed, has played her way into the finals of a WTA event.

Cibulkova knocked off Vesnina 6-0, 6-2 Saturday and will face Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in Sunday's championship match. Cibulkova will be playing for her first tour crown in three career tries. She lost last week in the finals at Linz to Petra Kvitova.

Kanepi advanced earlier in the day with a tough 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-3 win over Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic. The 2 1/2-hour epic ended after Kanepi managed an extra break in the third set.
