Kvitova moves into semifinals in Austria

LINZ, Austria, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Petra Kvitova, the top seed, breezed into the semifinals of the Generali Ladies Linz tennis tournament in Austria Friday with a straight-set win.

Kvitova, the Wimbledon champion, eliminated Daniela Hantuchova, the No. 8 seed, 6-2, 6-2 in a match that lasted just 58 minutes.

The Czech star's semifinal opponent will be No. 3 seed Jelena Jankovic, who advanced with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Evgeniya Rodina.

Seventh-seeded Dominika Cibulkova ousted Anastasia Rodionova 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-2, and will take on Lucie Safarova, a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Sorana Cirstea, in the semis.
