
DETROIT, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Doug Fister hurled eight scoreless innings and the Detroit Tigers banged out 18 hits Monday in a 14-0 rout of Cleveland.
Fister (11-13) improved to 8-1 since Detroit obtained him from Seattle in late July. He held the Indians to three hits, issuing no walks and striking out nine.
The right-hander tossed 81 of his 109 pitches for strikes and logged a victory in his fifth straight start for the American League Central champion Tigers.
Delmon Young clubbed a three-run homer, Alex Avila went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Miguel Cabrera added three hits, including a run-scoring single, as Detroit posted its eighth straight win over Cleveland.
Indians starter Ubaldo Jimenez (4-4) was rocked for six runs on nine hits over five frames.
