
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Carlos Santana's two-run homer highlighted a big second inning Saturday that carried the Cleveland Indians to a 10-4 win over Minnesota.
The Indians broke the game open when they sent 10 men to the plate in the second, during which Jason Kipnes (3-for-5, three runs scored) stroked a two-run triple while Matt LaPorta and Trevor Crowe added run-scoring hits.
Asdrubal Cabrera went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored as the Tribe banged out 14 hits in clinching their three-game series against the Twins.
Jeanmar Gomez (4-2) won his fourth straight start, going 6 2/3 innings. He allowed a pair of runs on seven hits while walking two and fanning three.
Minnesota's Anthony Swarzak (3-7), meanwhile, lasted only 1 2/3 frames after being lit up for seven runs on seven hits.
Chris Parmelee went 3-for-5 with his first major league homer and three RBI for the last-place Twins, who dropped their seventh straight and 12th in 13 games.
