ATLANTA, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Chipper Jones delivered a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth Saturday and the Atlanta Braves eked out a 1-0 victory over the New York Mets.

Tim Hudson (15-10) was dominating in the victory, hurling eight scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts while allowing four hits and walking two.

Rookie closer Craig Kimbrel posted a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his 45th save of the year for National League wild card-leading Atlanta, which came into the game with a 3 1/2-game lead over St. Louis.

Martin Prado got the only other hit for the Braves, winners of three of their last four games.

New York's R.A. Dickey (8-13) absorbed the hard-luck loss, yielding the game's lone run on three hits and six walks through 7 2/3 innings.
