MLB: Detroit 6, Chi. White Sox 5 (10 inn.)

CHICAGO, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Carlos Guillen's run-scoring single in the 10th inning handed Detroit its 12th straight win and the Tigers rallied for 6-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Detroit scored three times in the ninth to forge a tie then stunned Chicago with another run in the 10th in winning a 12th straight game for the first time since 1934.

Victor Martinez stroked a one-out double in the 10th off Sergio Santos (4-5) and came home with the go-ahead run when Guillen (3-for-5, homer, two RBI) followed with a sharp grounder up the middle.

Jose Valverde extended his club saves record to 44 in the bottom of the 10th, striking out the side, and Phil Coke (3-9) earned the victory.

Ryan Raburn's lead-off solo homer in the ninth cut Chicago's lead to 5-3 and one out later pinch-hitter Alex Avila pounded a game-tying, two-run shot for Detroit, which reduced its magic number to clinch the American League Central to two.
