MIAMI, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- John Mayberry Jr. gave Philadelphia the lead for good with a two-run homer in the fifth Friday and the Phillies reached a milestone by downing Florida 5-3.

The Phillies are on pace to win 107 games. Philadelphia has been playing baseball since 1883 and the team has reached 100 victories just twice -- with 101 wins in both 1976 and 1977.

Mayberry's blast put the Phillies in front 3-2 and he added a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Jose Lopez brought the Marlins within one with a homer in the sixth, but Shane Victorino restored a two-run advantage when he scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.

The Phillies have won five in a row and own an 8 1/2-game lead over second-place Atlanta in the National League East with 28 games remaining.

Roy Oswalt (7-8) allowed three runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings to get the win. He struck out seven.

Brand Hand (1-5), who was recalled from Class AA Jacksonville to make the start, suffered the loss. He surrendered four runs on four hits in five-plus innings.
