MLB, Rodriguez meet about poker allegation

BALTIMORE, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Baseball investigators reportedly met with the New York Yankees' Alex Rodriguez in Baltimore Friday about his alleged participation in illegal poker games.

Major League Baseball has looked into the allegations but isn't expected to suspend the cleanup hitter who recently returned from right-knee surgery, the New York Post reported.

A report had said Rodriguez was at a California game where drugs were in sight.

However, Rodriguez was playing in Game 5 of the 2009 World Series on the date in question.

"The only thing I will say about [the initial report] was that it was inaccurate and unfair. I am looking forward to the meeting," Rodriguez said on Aug 18.

He also allegedly was spotted playing poker at a Poconos casino during his rehab stint in Triple-A, the Post reported.
