MLB: Cleveland 3, Detroit 2 (14 innings)

CLEVELAND, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Kosuke Fukudome was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 14th inning early Wednesday, giving Cleveland a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers.

The Indians scored twice in the first but only had three hits through the next 12 innings before ending the game with two walks, a single and Fukudome's getting hit.

David Pauley (5-5) was called on to pitch for the Tigers and struck out Jason Kipnis to open the 14th. Asdrubal Cabrera walked and went to third when Travis Hafner followed with a single -- the Indians' first hit since the ninth inning. Carlos Santana was intentionally walked to load the bases.

Pauley went ahead 1-2 in the count to Fukudome but came inside with the next pitch and hit the left-handed batter on the left elbow, forcing in the winning run.

Frank Hermann (3-0) got the win after two innings of no-hit relief. He walked two and struck out one.

Kipnis doubled with one out in the Cleveland first and reached home on a single by Cabrera. Hafner also singled, sending Cabrera to third where he scored off Santana's sacrifice fly.

Detroit loaded the bases with none out in the second and scored its runs on ground outs by Don Kelly and Austin Jackson.

Play was stopped for 2 hours, 3 minutes in the third inning because of rain.
