Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
LOS ANGELES, July 30 (UPI) -- Matt Kemp drove in five runs Friday, three of them with a third-inning homer that helped power the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 9-5 win over Arizona.
Ted Lilly (7-10) worked only five innings and left the game with a 5-3 lead, but he collected the win thanks to four relievers holding off the Diamondbacks the rest of the way.
Kemp hit his 25th homer of the year to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead in the third and added a two-run single in the fourth.
Los Angeles broke things open with a three-run seventh, with two of those runs being unearned courtesy of a misplayed fly ball in right field by Justin Upton. The Dodgers won for the fifth time in six games.
Josh Collmenter (6-6), who had won his previous two starts, was roughed up for five runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Arizona got solo homers from Ryan Roberts in the second, Willie Bloomquist in the fifth and Upton in the seventh.
