CHICAGO, July 9 (UPI) -- Alexi Ramirez drove in the game-winning run in the ninth and the Chicago White Sox broke a nine-game losing streak to Minnesota Saturday with a 4-3 win.
Ramirez also homered in the first inning for the White Sox, who came into the contest having lost 28 of their last 34 meetings with Minnesota.
The White Sox put the winning run at second with none out in the ninth when A.J. Pierzynski doubled off Jose Mijares (0-1). Two outs later, Juan Pierre walked and Alex Burnett came in to pitch.
Ramirez (3-for-4) then dropped a single that was quickly fielded by the Twins' Ben Revere, but his weak throw from center field allowed Pierzynski to score standing up with the game-winner.
Jesse Crain (5-2) earned the victory against his former team with a scoreless top of the ninth in relief of starter Mark Buehrle, who allowed three unearned runs on four hits over eight innings.
Twin starter Brian Duensing yielded only two runs on five hits in a seven-inning effort.
Alexi Casilla collected two RBI for Minnesota.
