MLB: Tampa Bay 4, Cincinnati 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 28 (UPI) -- Evan Longoria smashed a game-winning homer in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday, handing the Tampa Bay Rays a 4-3 interleague decision over Cincinnati.

It was the second rally in two innings for the Rays, who trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth but took a 3-2 lead when two runs scored on Johnny Damon's looping hit to short left field.

The Reds came right back to tie it up in the top of the ninth when Jay Bruce blasted a 3-2 pitch from Kyle Farnsworth (3-1) for a home run to center field.

Longoria, leading off in the bottom of the ninth against Logan Ondrusek (3-3), drove the game winner over the left field fence.

Damon finished with two hits and three RBI and Rays starter David Price struck out 12 while yielding two runs on six hits over 7 2/3 innings.

Cincinnati's Johnny Cueto went 7 2/3 frames, allowing three runs on four hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
