KANSAS CITY, Kan., June 17 (UPI) -- C.J. Sapong scored in the 30th minute Friday and Kansas City made that goal stand up for a 1-0 victory over San Jose.
Kansas City (3-6-4) won for the first time in its new $200 million stadium. The team had opened the season with 10 consecutive road games and then played a scoreless tie with Chicago to open the stadium.

Sapong produced the game's only goal from 8 yards out after taking a crossing pass from Graham Zusi.
San Jose fell to 5-5-4.
