Allen sticking with Celtics

BOSTON, June 7 (UPI) -- Veteran Boston guard Ray Allen has decided to stay with the Celtics for the coming season, the NBA club said Tuesday.

The team didn't say how much it will be paying Allen, who turns 36 next month.

Allen, who exercised his player option for the 2011-12 season, has spent the last four seasons in Boston. This season when he became the NBA's all-time leader in 3-pointers, he shot a career-high 44.4 percent from long range, and averaged 16.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

With Allen on the team, the Celtics won an NBA title in 2008 and lost Eastern Conference semifinals in 2009, reached the finals in 2010 and were bounced from the playoffs in the semifinals this spring.
