SAN DIEGO, May 21 (UPI) -- Erik Bedard limited San Diego to three hits over eight scoreless innings Friday and Seattle won its third in a row with a 4-1 decision over the Padres.
Bedard (2-4) struck out nine and walked two, helping the Mariners win for the fourth time in five games after struggling through a five-game losing streak.

The only San Diego run came in the ninth off Chris Ray.
Carlos Peguero tripled in Seattle's first run in the second and he scored on a single from Brendan Ryan.
Ryan had a sacrifice fly in the fourth and Miguel Olivo hit a solo homer in the sixth to close out the Seattle scoring.
San Diego starter Mat Latos (1-6) allowed four runs on eight hits in six innings to take the loss.
