MLB: Milwaukee 4, Atlanta 2

MILWAUKEE, April 7 (UPI) -- Ryan Braun hit a two-run home run Thursday helping the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Braun's first-inning home run stayed just inside the left-field foul pole. It was his third homer of the season.

Shaun Marcum (1-1), the first of five Milwaukee pitchers, gave up two runs on five hits and two walks in getting the win. John Axford collected his second save. Atlanta had eight hits but they were all singles.

Tommy Hanson (0-2) got the loss after 5 1/3 inning of seven-hit, three-run pitching.

The Braves answered Braun's home run with two second-inning runs when Martin Prado singled in Freddie Freeman and Matt Young.

Milwaukee took the lead in the bottom of the inning when Nyjer Morgan doubled and scored on a fielder's choice when catcher Brian McCann mishandled the throw home.

The Brewers added an insurance run in the seventh on a Prince Fielder RBI.
