DENVER, April 6 (UPI) -- Colorado pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez, a 19-game winner last season, has gone on the 15-day disabled list with a thumb injury on his throwing hand.

Jimenez suffered a cuticle cut on the thumb during his appearance in the Rockies' season-opening game against Arizona. The roster move, announced Wednesday, was made retroactive to April 2, making Jimenez eligible to return to action April 17.

Jimenez, 27, is coming off a season in which he was 19-8 with a 2.88 earned run average and 214 strikeouts.

The game against Arizona was his only appearance so far this season. He allowed five earned runs over six innings (7.50 ERA) but didn't figure in the decision as Colorado lost 7-6 in 11 innings.

Colorado called up Greg Reynolds from Class AAA Colorado Springs and he is expected to start the Rockies' game Saturday at Pittsburgh. This will be Reynolds' second big-league assignment. He was 2-8 with an 8.13 ERA in 14 games with Colorado last season.
