DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Kyle Singler led Duke with 28 points Wednesday and the Blue Devils celebrated their return to the No. 1 ranking with a 78-61 victory over Temple.

Duke dominated during the second half of the late-season, non-conference game, with Singler making 10-of-18 from the field and the Blue Devils hitting 8-of-17 from 3-point range.

Singler came into the game having made only 20 of his previous 61 shots. He scored a mere two points in a win over Virginia last Wednesday.

The Blue Devils returned to the top spot in major college basketball after the leading four teams in the national rankings were defeated last week. It was Duke's seventh straight win.

Nolan Smith chipped in 15 points for Duke (26-2) and Mason Plumlee had 13 rebounds to go with his six points. The Blue Devils have three Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season games remaining prior to the start of the league tournament.

Temple (21-6) got 17 points from Lavoy Allen.
