CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Nolan Smith led Duke with 22 points Wednesday and the No. 5 Blue Devils put up a fierce defensive effort in rolling over Virginia 56-41.
The Cavaliers shot just 28 percent from the field and went scoreless for almost 4 minutes to start the second half.

Duke won its fifth straight since dropping a non-conference game against St. John's Jan. 30. The Blue Devils moved 1 1/2 games in front of North Carolina at the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Ryan Kelly added 11 points for Duke (24-2, 11-1), which took 10 fewer shots from the field than did Virginia but made seven more.
Mustapha Farrakhan scored 11 points to lead Virginia (12-13, 3-8).
