Germany's Rebensburg wins giant slalom

ARBER-ZWIESEL, Germany, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Olympic gold medalist Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany was the winner of Sunday's fog-delayed women's World Cup giant slalom at Arber-Zwiesel.

Rebensburg turned in a winning time of 1 minute, 36.96 seconds to edge Federica Brignone of Italy and third-place Kathrin Zettel of Austria.

The event was delayed three hours due to fog on the German race course.

Lindsey Vonn of the United States finished 18th with a time of 1:39.15.

Vonn trails Germany's Maria Riesch by 15 points in the overall World Cup standings heading into the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, which begin Tuesday at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
