NHL: Colorado 4, Buffalo 3 (OT)

DENVER, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- David Jones scored a power-play goal with 43 seconds remaining in overtime Tuesday, handing the Colorado Avalanche a 4-3 victory over Buffalo.

With Buffalo's Tyler Ennis off on a high-sticking penalty, the Avs were on a 4-on-3 power play when Ryan Wilson got control of the puck near the blue line and broke into the zone with Jones and Tomas Fleischmann.

Daniel Winnik had a goal and an assist and Ryan O'Reilly and Matt Duchene also scored for the Avalanche, which got 37 saves from Peter Budaj.

Thomas Vanek had a goal and helper for the Sabres, who also got scores from Steve Montador and Jochen Hecht. Ryan Miller turned aside 30-of-34 shots for Buffalo.
