NBA: Charlotte 105, Detroit 100

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- D.J. Augustin scored 27 points for Charlotte Monday and the Bobcats won in their first game under interim Coach Paul Silas, 105-100 over Detroit.

Stephen Jackson overcame nine turnovers to score 23 points and grab nine rebounds for the Hornets in their initial contest under Silas, who replaced the resigned Larry Brown last week.

Tyrus Thomas came off the bench to add 14 points and block five shots for the Bobcats, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

A Richard Hamilton 3-pointer and a pair of free throws by Chris Wilcox drew the Pistons to within a single point at 101-100 with 1 minute remaining, but they were held scoreless the rest of the way.

Charlie Villanueva led Detroit with 25 points. Tayshaun Prince and Ben Gordon contributed 17 apiece.
