BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Dustin Jeffrey scored Pittsburgh's first goal and assisted on an insurance tally Saturday, boosting the Penguins to their 12th straight win, 5-2 over Buffalo.
Sidney Crosby picked up an assist in the victory, extending his point streak to 18 games.
Jeffrey gave the Pens a 1-0 lead 6:43 into the first period and got the helper when Michael Rupp poked a rebound past Ryan Miller for a 4-2 Pittsburgh lead with less than 4 minutes to go.
Their latest win put the Penguins five games shy of their NHL-record 17-game winning streak set during the 1992-93 season.
Alex Goligoski and Matt Cooke also lit the lamp and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 34 shots in the win.
Jason Pominville and Tyler Ennis scored and Miller made 19 saves for the Sabres.
