Rangers execs meet again with Cliff Lee

ARLINGTON, Texas, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Texas Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels said Wednesday he and club President Nolan Ryan have met again with free agent pitcher Cliff Lee.

Daniels told MLB.com that he, Ryan, Lee and agent Darek Braunecker met Tuesday in Arkansas, as the Rangers pursued their superstar left-handed ace, who is also being heavily recruited by the New York Yankees.

"We did visit with him," Daniels told the Web site. "It's just part of the process. But there's nothing to update until a decision is made."

Daniels, Ryan and Rangers Chief Executive Chuck Greenberg met with Lee last month and Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman has met with the lefty at least once.

Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler told MLB.com he and his Rangers teammates are lobbying Lee in an effort to convince him to stay.

"I think he's leaning toward Texas," Kinsler said. "I know he wants to come back to Texas, but it's just a matter of the money."

Lee beat the Tampa Bay Rays twice and shut out the New York Yankees over eight innings in the American League playoffs, but lost twice to the San Francisco Giants in the 2010 World Series.
