COL FB: Auburn 62, Chattanooga 24

AUBURN, Ala., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Cam Newton tossed four touchdown passes and ran for another score Saturday, powering second-ranked Auburn to a 62-24 rout of Chattanooga.

Newton, playing in his first game since revelations of an NCAA investigation into his recruitment, had one of his best games of the season, hurling three of his TDs in the first quarter and adding a 1-yard scoring run for a 27-0 Auburn lead after 15 minutes.

Newton finished 15-of-21 passing for 317 yards and no interceptions. He also carried the ball eight times for 24 yards.

Darvin Adams grabbed two TD passes among his four catches for 106 yards and Terrell Zachery made seven grabs for 148 yards and a score in the one-sided win for the Tigers (10-0), who will resume their SEC schedule with games against Georgia next week and Alabama Nov. 26.

Chattanooga (5-4) scored on a 98-yard kickoff return by Brian Sutherland while B.J. Coleman completed 20-of-39 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown for the Mocs.
