COL FB: Southern Cal 48, California 14

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Southern California, riding Matt Barkley's school record-tying five touchdowns, overwhelmed California 48-14 Saturday.

This one was over by halftime when the Trojans already led 42-0. USC finished with 602 yards of offense to 245 for the Golden Bears.

Barkley completed 25-of-37 passes for 357 yards for the Trojans (5-2, 2-2 PAC-10). Robert Woods and Ronald Johnson each caught seven passes and scored two touchdowns.

Marc Tyler ran for 79 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. C.J. Gable added 72 yards on 13 rushes.

The Golden Bears' Kevin Riley threw for 193 yards with two touchdowns but also was intercepted twice. Shane Vereen ran for 53 yards and had three receptions for 45 yards and a score for California (3-3, 1-2). Keenan Allen grabbed four passes for 61 yards and a score.
