MLB: Boston 7, New York Yankees 3

NEW YORK, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Jon Lester threw seven scoreless innings and David Ortiz drove in two runs Saturday in Boston's 7-3 victory over the New York Yankees.

Lester (19-8) limited New York to two hits, fanning eight and walking three to collect his sixth straight victory.

Besides Ortiz's efforts, Lester was backed by an RBI double by Ryan Kalish and solo homers by J.D. Drew and Victor Martinez as the Red Sox clinched their three-game series at Yankees Stadium.

New York, which entered the contest a half-game behind Tampa Bay in the American League East, lost its fourth straight despite homers by Curtis Granderson and Alex Rodriguez.

Ivan Nova (1-1) absorbed the loss, surrendering four runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings.
