By reaching the semifinals, Wozniacki clinched the U.S. Open Series -- a points race determined by finishes in events held in the United States prior to the playing of the U.S. Open. The year's fourth and final major begins Monday in New York.

If Wozniacki goes on to win the U.S. Open, she will receive a bonus of $1 million.

Elena Dementieva will meet Wozniacki in Friday's semifinals after getting past Marion Bartoli 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The players combined for 19 double faults and 12 service breaks.

The other semifinal will send Maria Kirilenko against Nadia Petrova.

Petrova breezed past second-seeded Samantha Stosur 6-2, 6-1 and Kirilenko disposed of Dinara Safina 6-3, 6-3.
