SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Former Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook signed a one-year deal with San Francisco Monday, the 49ers said.

Westbrook played his entire eight-year career to-date with the Eagles before being released during the off-season after suffering through multiple concussions last season.

The 30-year-old played in just eight games in the 2009-2010 season, compiling 274 rushing yards, 181 receiving yards and two total touchdowns. Westbrook is the Eagles' all-time leader in yards from scrimmage (9,785) and touches (1,734).

His move to the 49ers sets up a backfield with prolific all-time statistics. Westbrook and Frank Gore combined have gained 14,438 yards from scrimmage (10,411 yards rushing, 4,027 yards receiving) since 2005.

Westbrook racked up 5,995 rushing yards -- second-most in Eagles history -- 3,790 receiving yards and 68 touchdowns in his Philadelphia career.
