Nadal, who has lost just once in his last 35 matches, downed Kohlschreiber 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to set up a semifinal meeting with fourth-seeded Andy Murray. Nadal has defeated Kohlschreiber in each of their seven meetings.

Nadal has an 8-3 lifetime record against Murray, who advanced with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over David Nalbandian.

Nalbandian had won his previous 11 matches, including a hard-court title in Washington last week.

The other semifinal will send second-seeded Novak Djokovic against No. 3 Roger Federer.

Federer outlasted Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5) and Djokovic was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Jeremy Chardy in the evening's final match.
