PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Andre Ethier went 4-for-4, scored four times and drove in three runs Tuesday and the Los Angeles Dodgers outslugged Philadelphia 15-9.
Casey Blake homered and drove in four runs and Jay Gibbons chipped in with three hits and three RBI for the Dodgers, who posted a resounding win in the first contest of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park.
Los Angeles broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning, highlighted by Gibbons' two-run homer.
Vicente Padilla (6-3) collected the win after holding the Phillies to four runs on six hits in five innings.
Philadelphia starter Kyle Kendrick (7-5) was blasted for six runs (five earned) on eight hits in a 3 1/3-inning start.
Ross Gload socked a pair of homers, went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs for the Phillies, who fell 2 1/2 games behind the first-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East.
