Dodgers obtain Podsednik from Royals

SAN DIEGO, July 28 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Wednesday they had obtained former all-star outfielder Scott Podsednik from Kansas City for two minor league players.

Los Angeles began Wednesday's contest in San Diego trailing the National League Western Division-leading Padres by five games.

Podsednik, 34, has a .310 batting average with five home runs and 44 RBI this season. He was playing his first season with the Royals after signing as a free agent. He has also played with Seattle, Milwaukee and Colorado.

The Dodgers sent catcher Lucas May and pitcher Elisaul Pimentel to the Royals.
