MLB: New York Yankees 12, Kansas City 6

NEW YORK, July 25 (UPI) -- Curtis Granderson socked two homers and Alex Rodriguez collected three hits and drove in two runs Sunday in the New York Yankees' 12-6 win over Kansas City.

Granderson launched solo blasts in the third and fourth innings. Rodriguez smacked an RBI double in the third when New York scored four runs to erase a 2-0 deficit and take the lead for good in the rain-delayed contest.

Rodriguez, however, remained at 599 career homers, failing to notch his 600th round-tripper at home before the Yankees embark on a road trip.

Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher each drove in a pair of runs. Derek Jeter went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for New York, which took three wins in a four-game series with Kansas City.

Phil Hughes (12-3) picked up the win, going 5 1/3 innings, yielding three runs on six hits.

Sean O'Sullivan (1-1) absorbed the loss for the Royals, surrendering five runs on seven hits in five innings.
