MINNEAPOLIS, July 19 (UPI) -- Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau is set to see a specialist as he deals with a debilitating concussion, the team said Monday.

Morneau was kneed in the head by Toronto's John McDonald as he slid into second while trying to break up a double play in a July 7 game at Rogers Center. The all-star was placed on the disabled list soon thereafter and is eligible to come off Friday.

But team officials have indicated Morneau's recovery isn't going well and he is still suffering significant concussion symptoms. He was set to see a specialist Tuesday, and is likely to miss Minnesota's upcoming road trip this week.

Morneau was hitting .345 with an major league-leading .437 on-base percentage, 18 home runs and 56 RBI when he went on the DL.
