Reutimann wins second Sprint Cup race

JOLIET, Ill., July 10 (UPI) -- David Reutimann passed Jeff Gordon for the lead with 54 laps remaining Saturday and held on to win the Sprint Cup LifeLock.com 400.

It was the second victory in Reutimann's Sprint Cup series career. His only other triumph came at the 2009 Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte -- a race shortened by rain.

Reutimann fought off Carl Edwards over the final laps at Chicagoland Speedway, leaving Edwards with a second-place finish that was his best showing of the season.

Gordon, who has not won in 47 races, wound up third. Clint Boyer was fourth and pole sitter Jamie McMurray fifth.

Four-time defending series champion Jimmie Johnson led the first 92 laps, but mechanical problems eventually put him two laps behind in 25th place. Championship leader Kevin Harvick also had engine problems and his lead over Gordon was trimmed to 103 points.
