MLB: Milwaukee 5, Chi. Cubs 4 (10 innings)

MILWAUKEE, June 10 (UPI) -- Carlos Gomez hustled home on a throwing error in the 10th inning Thursday, giving the Milwaukee Brewers a 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Gomez walked on four pitches to open the bottom of the 10th and headed to second when Craig Counsell bunted down the third-base line. Counsell was out at first but Gomez kept running and Xavier Nady's throw to third went over the head of catcher Koyie Hill, allowing Gomez to score the winning run.

Gomez entered the game as a pinch-hitter for John Axford (3-1), who walked one and gave up a hit in one inning of relief but still got the win.

Bob Howry (1-1) took the loss, allowing one hit and the walk to Gomez in 1 1/3 innings.

Chicago took a 4-3 lead in the sixth on a 2-run home run by Nady but Ryan Braun worked Cubs reliever Jeff Stevens for a bases-loaded walk that tied the score.

The Brewers had five 1-run rallies, the first of which came in the second inning on Corey Hart's 16th home run of the season. He leads the National League in that category.
