Pavano (6-6) walked two and struck out one, giving way in the ninth to Jon Rauch in a non-save situation.

Delmon Young hit a solo homer in the first, but Minnesota did not take the lead for good until the fourth. The Twins loaded the bases on a single, a walk and an error, after which Michael Cuddyer scored on a double-play grounder off the bat of Danny Valencia.

That gave the Twins a 3-2 advantage and two of the next three Minnesota runs came on groundouts.

Kyle Davies (4-5) gave up five runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 to take the loss.
