MLB: Tampa Bay 9, Toronto 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 8 (UPI) -- Jeff Niemann tossed a two-hit shutout Tuesday and the Tampa Bay Rays pounded Toronto 9-0.

Niemann (6-0) remained undefeated, rebounding from a five-run no-decision in his last outing, also against the Blue Jays. This time he baffled them in a 114-pitch gem, issuing only one walk and striking out six.

Carlos Pena homered twice and drove in five runs in the Rays' win. Evan Longoria went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and Willie Aybar contributed two hits with two runs knocked in to pace the Rays at the plate.

Brian Tallet (1-2) lasted only four innings for the Blue Jays, allowing five runs on six hits.
