BOSTON, May 30 (UPI) -- Jon Lester tossed seven solid innings and David Ortiz blasted a two-run homer Sunday to spark the Boston Red Sox to an 8-1 win over Kansas City.
Lester (6-2) held the Royals to a single run, yielding four hits, walking four and fanning five en route to his sixth straight win, which raised his career mark against Kansas City to 4-1.

Ortiz also collected a sacrifice fly to end with three RBI and Jason Veritek added a solo round-tripper to help the Red Sox take the rubber match of a three-game weekend set at Fenway Park.
Marco Scutaro and Mike Cameron each contributed a pair of RBI for the winners.
Royals reliever Brad Thompson (0-4) absorbed the loss, surrendering six runs on seven hits over 1 2/3 innings.
