Seppi, Gasquet advance at Belgrade

BELGRADE, Serbia, May 4 (UPI) -- Italian Andreas Seppi and unseeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet registered wins Tuesday in the opening round of the Serbia Open.

Seppi had to rally to down Argentine Leonardo Mayer 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the clay-court tuneup to the French Open, while Gasquet had little trouble downing Belgian Olivier Rochus 6-0, 6-1 at the MGM Belgrade.

Wild card Serb Filip Krajinovic delighted the crowd with a hard-fought 5-7, 7-6 (9-7), 6-1 victory over Russian qualifier Evgeny Donskoy.

Italian Fabio Fognini won his match to gain the unenviable task of drawing world No. 2 and Serb favorite Novak Djokovic in the round of 16. Djokovic won last year's inaugural Serbia Open, downing Poland's Lukasz Kubot in the finale.

Djokovic's younger brother, Marko Djokovic, was bested by Italian qualifier Alessio Di Mauro 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 6-0 Tuesday.
